DripIQ is an independent Chrome browser extension built to help users understand the environmental water cost of using AI tools, and to encourage water-saving habits through gamification.
This Privacy Policy describes what data DripIQ accesses, how it is processed, and your rights as a user. It applies to DripIQ version 2.0 and all future versions unless a new policy is published.
DripIQ processes the following data, entirely on your own device:
chrome.storage.local API.๐ก Important: DripIQ never reads the text of any AI conversation. It only detects that the send button was pressed โ not what you wrote or what the AI responded.
To be completely explicit, DripIQ does not collect, store remotely, or transmit:
There are no DripIQ servers, databases, analytics pipelines, or third-party services involved in the extension's operation. It works entirely offline.
DripIQ runs its prompt-detection script only on the following platforms:
DripIQ does not activate, run scripts, or collect any data on any other websites. It has no access to your general browsing history.
All data generated by DripIQ is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage using Chrome's standard chrome.storage.local API. This means:
DripIQ requests the following Chrome permissions. Here is exactly why each is needed:
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| storage | To save your game state (XP, level, streak, history) locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. |
| tabs | To detect when you navigate to a supported AI platform so the prompt counter can activate. |
| scripting | To inject the prompt-detection script into supported AI sites so button presses can be detected. |
| notifications | To send you local milestone alerts (e.g. "You've tracked 50 prompts!"). These notifications are generated locally โ no data is sent to any server to trigger them. |
| host_permissions (AI sites only) | Grants the extension permission to run its detection script on the specific AI platforms listed above. Without this, prompt counting cannot function. |
No permissions are requested beyond what is strictly necessary for the extension to function as described.
DripIQ may display Chrome browser notifications to alert you to milestones (e.g. tracking your first prompt, reaching 50 prompts, completing your first challenge). These notifications are:
You can disable notifications at any time via Chrome's settings (Settings โ Privacy and security โ Site Settings โ Notifications) without affecting the rest of the extension.
You have complete control over your DripIQ data:
DripIQ does not require account creation or any form of personal data entry. Because all data is processed locally and nothing is transmitted, there is no risk of personal data collection from users of any age. DripIQ is intended for general audiences and contains no content inappropriate for minors.
If this Privacy Policy is updated, the new version will be published at this URL and the "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. Significant changes will also be noted in the Chrome Web Store update notes for the extension.
Given DripIQ's deliberately minimal data footprint, we do not anticipate significant changes to this policy.
